Job Description

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the GTA, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to be responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of the organization by maintaining, repairing, updating, removing, and installing machinery, equipment, and/or facilities as needed.

 

Job Type: Temporary to Permanent

Location: Markham, ON

Pay Rate: $38.00/hour to $43.00/hour

Hours: 4:00pm to 12:00am (2 month training period is from 8:00am to 4:00pm)

 

What You'll Do: 

  •  Repair & maintain machinery, equipment, facilities, systems & grounds
  • Timely process work orders/requests, prioritizing most critical repairs
  • Work closely with maintenance, management, internal customers and other departments
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance and conversion equipment, including CI Presses, laminates, slitters, bag machines, winders, and cutting machines
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment
  • Inspect and perform preventative maintenance which may include mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire systems, interior and exterior areas. This is not a full list as there may be other areas of responsibility
  • Coordinate with specialists (internal and external) when more complex work is needed
  • Conducts or performs maintenance, repairs, and installations to minimize disruptions when possible
  • Report on and update management and systems on projects, status, schedules, completion changes
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance
  • All other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Professional Certification and/or Technical Training is a plus
  • 5-10 years' machinery, equipment, internal/external facilities maintenance required 
  • Experience with manufacturing facilities
  • Solid working knowledge of general carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, Outlook email and calendar
  • Maintain confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written & presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients
  • Proactive; exercises sound judgement and decision-making
  • Able to identify problems and develop solutions
  • Self-confident, self-motivated, polished professional who thrives in a challenging, and fast-paced environment
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work full time hours as required by this position
