Job Description

Staff Plus is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to support our client in food manufacturing operations in Vaughan. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating the production team, ensuring food safety and quality standards, and managing day-to-day production operations.

Job Type: Permanent

Location: Vaughan, ON

Pay Rate: $80,000 to $100,000 per annum

Hours: Must be flexible to work any shift (day, evening, night, and weekend), 8-hour shifts, Monday to Sunday.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily production schedules and ensure orders are accurately entered and fulfilled.
  • Supervise production team members, enforce food safety (HACCP) and quality standards, and monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs).
  • Oversee training programs for operators, mixers, and new supervisors, including machinery and ERP/label updates.
  • Manage production documentation, attendance records, and incident/event reporting.
  • Monitor equipment, sanitation, and product packaging to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and act as backup for the Production Manager during absences or emergencies.

Job Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school; college diploma or degree is an asset.
  • Supervisory experience in food production or manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of HACCP policies, BRC standards, and continuous improvement processes.
  • EMS certified (with retraining as required).
  • Proficient in Navision and general computer systems.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work flexible rotating shifts (day, evening, night, weekend).
  • Commitment to food safety, team safety, and quality standards, including proper PPE and GMP rules.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work full time hours as required by this position
