Food Production Mechanic/Millwright

Job Description

We’re hiring a maintenance technician to support daily facility upkeep, equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance schedules. You’ll work hands-on to keep operations running smoothly.

 

Ideal for someone who’s mechanically inclined and values precision and safety.

 

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Hamilton, ON

Pay Rate: From $25 per hour (as per experience)

Hours: Day shift - Monday to Friday - starts between 6am and 9am

 

What You'll Do: 

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on production machinery, packaging equipment, conveyors, boilers, pumps, and other facility systems.
  • Install, align, and dismantle machinery and mechanical equipment according to specifications and safety procedures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, schematics, and equipment diagrams.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and minor electrical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Fabricate or modify parts as needed, using welding, machining, or other trade skills.
  • Work closely with production and quality teams to maintain safe, efficient, and food-compliant operations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and equipment history records.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending upgrades or modifications to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety regulations, health & safety standards, and GMP requirements.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Licensed Industrial Millwright (433A) or equivalent trade certification highly preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing or other high-speed production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Welding and fabrication experience an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of GMPs, HACCP, and food safety protocols.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work full time hours as required by this position.
