Job Description

Staff Plus is hiring a Licensed Industrial Millwright for a full-time opportunity with our client, a leading food manufacturing organization in Scarborough.

Reporting to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager, you will work as part of the maintenance team to support the safe, continuous and efficient operation of the production facility. This role involves preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, repairs, calibration and ongoing support for production and packaging equipment.

 

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Scarborough, Ontario

Pay Rate: $44.20/hour

What You'll do:

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic issues on production and packaging equipment.
  • Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify equipment failures and determine required repairs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and document completed work using manual and computerized maintenance systems.
  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical and pneumatic schematics, technical drawings and equipment manuals.
  • Install, set up, calibrate and maintain instrumentation and production-control systems.
  • Adjust and calibrate weighing systems, metal detectors, printers and labelling equipment.
  • Complete welding and basic machine-fabrication work.
  • Operate packaging equipment and complete basic equipment repairs when required.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams while following all safety requirements.

Job Requirements

 

  • Valid Canadian 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright licence or valid Ontario 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician licence.
  • Three to five years of hands-on maintenance experience in a food or pharmaceutical production or manufacturing environment.
  • At least three years of experience in food, food ingredients, beverages or liquids, pet food, pharmaceutical or specialty chemical production.
  • Millwright or electrical trade training, or related manufacturing or engineering education from a recognized community college program.
  • Strong troubleshooting and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and drive action.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada, and work full time hours as required by this position.

 

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Dual-ticket or multiple-trade certification.
  • At least three years of experience or training in a CFIA-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with an eye for continuous improvement.

 

*This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the use of a fitted NIOSH-approved N95 respirator or an approved alternative. The successful candidate will be required to complete appropriate fit testing and wear the required respirator while performing applicable duties.
