Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Hamilton, ON

Shift: Continental

Pay rate: $43.10/hr plus shift premiums

Overview: 

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team made up of other trades and production operators
  • Demonstrate and maintain a consistent output that meets production needs
  • Set up and operate all toolroom machines including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, etc.
  • Build, modify, repair, and troubleshoot dies, jigs, and fixtures for production while working to very close tolerances from blueprints, sketches, and samples
  • Assist operators in setting up and adjusting presses to ensure the final product meets customer specifications
  • Maintain and manufacture tools, dies, and fixtures to ensure quality components at peak efficiency
  • Read and interpret blueprints and use precision measuring instruments (imperial and metric)
  • Perform bench work and skilled fitting to very close tolerances
  • Maintain existing dies and perform changeovers
  • Maintain documentation and preventative maintenance requirements of press tools
  • Recommend maintenance and equipment repair necessary to achieve the highest possible efficiency, safety, and quality

Job Requirements

  • Tool and Die Maker AEC / DEP or Certificate of Qualification (430A)
  • Experience working safely in a heavy industrial environment
  • Working knowledge of OHSA and relevant legislation (e.g., WHMIS, Lockout, Confined Space, Working at Heights, etc.) and willingness to successfully complete employer-paid training
  • Able to prioritize urgency based on production requirements
  • Conduct and complete scheduled preventative maintenance work orders, tasks, and checklists
  • Accurately document the steps taken and the duration required to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Ability to work independently and as a contributing, collaborating team member
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Safely perform the physical demands of this position including standing, bending, crouching, overhead work, heavy lifting, and carrying.
  • Experience with heavy stamping, EDM Sinker is considered an asset
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work full time hours as required by this position
