Material Handler

Job Description

This hands-on role supports fabrication and assembly operations by keeping production workstations supplied with the components, sheet metal, packaging materials and other items required to complete manufacturing orders.

You will move materials throughout the production area, process laser-cut sheet metal parts using a deburring machine and identify damaged, defective or non-conforming materials.

This opportunity is well suited to someone with previous material handling, warehouse or manufacturing experience who enjoys active work and helping production run efficiently.

 

Job Type: Full time, ongoing 

Location: Mississauga, ON 

Pay Rate: $20.00 to 22.00 per/Hour

Hours:   4:30pm to 1:00am  Monday- Thursday and Friday 3:30pm to 12:00 midnight

*Training on days 7am to 4:30pm Monday-Thursday and Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm

 What You'll Do:

  • Deliver components, packaging supplies and other materials to production work areas according to current orders
  • Ensure assemblers have the materials required to maintain production flow
  • Move sheet metal from storage racks to the CNC laser machine
  • Run laser-cut sheet metal parts through a deburring machine
  • Inspect materials and report damaged, defective or non-conforming items
  • Complete shop and production records accurately
  • Safely lift, move and organize materials throughout the production area
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Follow all health and safety procedures
  • Participate in workplace 5S activities
  • Support special projects and other production duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • One to two years of material handling experience
  • Previous manufacturing experience; two or more years is preferred
  • Good manual dexterity and the ability to understand simple to complex assemblies
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 25 lb
  • Experience with electrical fixture materials or component manufacturing is preferred
  • A valid forklift licence is an asset
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and work full time hours as required by this position
