Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Plant Supervisor to oversee safe, efficient, and productive plant operations while ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards. This role manages production staff through lead hands, overseeing scheduling, work assignments, and overall employee performance. The position works closely with the Operations Manager, and the Maintenance team to drive operational excellence and maintain a safe, collaborative work environment.

Job Type: Temporary, Ongoing Assignment

Location: Scarborough, ON

Pay Rate: $25.50/hour

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial walk-throughs before each shift, and ensure operations are ready to begin.
  • Schedule trucks in coordination with the Logistics Department to meet production and delivery needs.
  • Assign work tasks and redeploy staff as required to meet production requirements.
  • Request, interview, and support onboarding of new employees, including providing initial orientations along with training and development.
  • Monitor and maintain production quality control, addressing issues promptly, including dispute resolution, documenting incidents, and enforcing policy compliance.
  • Track and analyze daily productivity reports to ensure efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety protocols and company compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate reporting and documentation of operational activities and incidents.
  • Lead by example to promote a positive, safe, and compliant work environment.

Job Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Supervisor or in a similar role and environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and production reporting tools
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Teamwork, collaboration, and cross-functional communication abilities
  • Leadership and staff management, including training and mentoring
  • Planning, organizing, and time management skills
  • Sound decision-making, problem-solving, judgment, accountability, dependability, and strong work ethic
  • Conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to enforce rules, regulations, and safety protocols consistently
  • Commitment to ethics, integrity, and respect in the workplace with a continuous improvement mindset, including lean thinking principles
  • Emergency response awareness and safety-first approach
  • Forklift Training
  • JEHSC Certified Member, 1st Aid training, TDG training an asset
  • Management Training & Experience
  • High School a must, some college/university an asset.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work full time hours as required by this position
