Job Description

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the GTA, is seeking a Press Operator to be responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of the organization by operating and maintaining press machinery used in the manufacturing process, in addition to, ensuring compliance with all safety and quality standards.

 

Job Type: Temporary to Permanent

Location: Markham, ON

Pay Rate: $28.00/hour - $35.00/hour

Hours: 7:00am to 3:00pm OR 3:00pm to 11:00pm (afternoon shift has a $0.75 premium)

 

What You'll Do: 

  • Safely sets up, operates, and monitors press machinery and equipment as intended and needed to meet customer and production goals.
  • Completes press machine setup for production runs, including loading materials, adjusting settings, and calibrating equipement to ensure proper operation.
  • Monitors the production process, inspects and tests materials and equipment using safe and proper protocols, to ensure products meet quality standards and production quotas are met.
  • Verifies and tracks all materials for inventory and work in progress regulations.
  • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and perform routine maintenance tasks to keep machinery operating efficiently.
  • Trains and provides guidance to machine assistants and new crew members.
  • Keeps machinery and surrounding areas organized by meeting housekeeping, storage, staging, and cleanliness requirements.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures, to prevent accidents or injuries. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment(PPE) as required by safety policies and reports any safety hazards or concerns to the appropriate team member.
  • Completes all necessary documentation for internal or external use.
  • Effectively works with other departments or team members, such as machine technicians, supervisors, and quality control inspectors, to coordinate production activities and address any potential issues as they arise.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • HS/GED required; HS/GED preferred
  • 2-4 years' experience in a related field experience in a related field required.
  • This position has no leadership duties.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information.
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.
  • Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision-making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
  • Self-confident, self-motivated polished professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
  • May need to get on and off equipment, stairs, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work full time hours as required by this position.
