Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Quality Assurance Associate to join our team in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in our food manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining food safety, sanitation, and product quality throughout the production process. Job Type: Temporary to Ongoing Assignment 

Location: Hamilton, ON

Pay Rate: $20.19/hour to $26.44/hour

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am to 5:00pm

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update internal policies and procedures to meet GFSI/BRCGS and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide HACCP and Quality program updates, maintenance and verification to ensure Ontario Ravioli meets all internal, regulatory and third party requirements including Halal.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of quality assurance systems to support Ontario Ravioli’s, customer and third party (GFSI/BRCGS) standards.
  • Prepare for third party audits (CFIA, Halal, BRCGS etc.) and prepare/coach production team before audits and inspections.
  • Reassessment of all prerequisite programs and HACCP Plans.
  • Maintain Food Safety and Quality Assurance documentation and records such as supplier information and product specifications.
  • Liaise with CFIA representatives during daily inspections.
  • Record, investigate, and report any deviations or non-conformances; initiate corrective actions where necessary.
  • Review and verify acceptability of production inspections and records performed by operators.
  • Prepare Quality Assurance Reports for i.e. monthly food safety reporting to Senior Leadership team.
  • Act as back up for when QA technician is not available.
  • May be requested to work on special projects and other duties/responsibilities as required by Management.

Job Requirements

Skills

  • 1+ years of experience in food manufacturing or quality assurance
  • Basic understanding of food safety regulations (FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP)
  • Knowledge of third-party food safety standards (BRCGS, Halal etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team and under pressure
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle as the role may require local travel 1-2 days per week.
  • Be able to work productively in a 10 hour shift.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • May involve lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for long periods.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE and follow safety protocols.
  • Exposure to various temperatures.
  • Post-secondary Degree or diploma in a related field (i.e., Food Science, Food Safety, Quality Assurance, etc.) is preferred
  • BRCGS Internal Auditor certification is preferred
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work full time hours as required by this position.
