Job Description

Our team is seeking a Shipper and Receiver who will be responsible for receiving incoming materials and ingredients, preparing and shipping finished goods, and maintaining accurate inventory records within a food production plant. This role ensures all products are handled safely, efficiently, and in compliance with food safety regulations and company standards.

 

Job Type: Temporary to Permanent

Location: North York, ON

Pay Rate: $23.00/hour 

Hours: 8:00am to 12:00pm, Monday to Friday

Duties: 

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments and packaging supplies.
  • Check deliveries against purchase orders and packing slips for accuracy and damage.

  • Record and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies.

  • Properly label and store materials following FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.

  • Ensure all received goods meet food safety and quality standards.

Shipping Duties:

  • Pick, pack, and prepare finished goods for shipment according to customer orders.

  • Verify product codes, quantities, lot numbers, and expiration dates.

  • Prepare bills of lading and shipping documentation.

  • Coordinate with carriers for pickups and delivery schedules.

  • Load and unload trucks safely using forklifts or pallet jacks.

Inventory & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records in the warehouse management system.

  • Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with full inventory audits.

  • Monitor stock levels and notify management of low inventory or shortages.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Follow all food safety guidelines, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), and HACCP procedures.

  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.

  • Operate warehouse equipment safely and report maintenance issues.

  • Follow workplace health and safety policies at all times.

Job Requirements

 

  • 2 years of experience in shipping and receiving, or warehousing.

  • Food production experience is an asset.

  • Raymond Reach or Narrow Aisle Reach Forklift certification is required

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

 

Additional Information

This is a part-time position with the potential to transition to full-time hours in the future.
